Palliative Care with Notre Dame At Home improves quality of life for both you and your family. In the compassionate spirit of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, Notre Dame Health Care’s Palliative team fosters a deep understanding of life’s journey, ensuring those who need Palliative Care can receive the support they need whether in their home, an Assisted Living community, or wherever they may call home.
Many couples of childbearing years will experience a perinatal loss. The loss of a baby, whether sudden or expected, can be overwhelming and can leave a family emotionally, physically, and spiritually drained.
The Notre Dame Perinatal Palliative Care Program, which is part of Notre Dame Pedi Pals, assists the needs of a family whose lives have been touched by the tragic death of a baby through pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or death during the first few months of life. Bereaved parents can find comfort in the presence of our interdisciplinary team and approach to help cope with this devastating loss.
The Notre Dame Perinatal Palliative Care Program team is made up of a team of professionals including social workers, bereavement counselors, nurses, child life specialists (for siblings), spiritual care, and music, massage, and art therapists. Their mission is to support and guide families in multiple ways with an understanding that cultural, religious, and family diversity affect how each person copes with feelings of grief and mourning.
