Our mission remains deeply committed to that of Saint Julie Billiart, founder of the order of Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Notre Dame du Lac feels like a true home filled with friends, comfort, safety and love, thanks to the caring staff, lush grounds, unique and tastefully designed apartments, exceptional cuisine, and a wide array of social activities.
Our residents love the peaceful, serene, scenic location and beautiful structure of Notre Dame du Lac Assisted living community, originally built in 1900 to serve the convent for the sisters of Notre Dame.
The beautifully renovated building has won several awards for historic preservation, and when you walk in the front door, you can see why.
Outdoors, the grounds feature walking paths filled with religious statues and wooden benches that offer a place to take a stroll, rest, and reflect.
Couples, family members, and friends can often be seen enjoying the solace of the gazebo nestled among the trees. Located near the gazebo is also the Cuvilly Remembrance Garden, a beautiful and calming place for personal reflection.
Approaching du Lac up the winding driveway, a welcoming front door opens to an interior featuring modern touches co-mingled with original detail, adding to the community’s charm.
The foyer features a magnificent stained-glass window. Sunshine streams through tall windows, warming the easy chairs and upholstered sofas where residents read the daily newspaper, sip a hot cup of coffee, or simply enjoy the soft music.
A feeling of welcome and peace permeates the entire community. The hallways feature original works of art, many the handiwork of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
An imperial staircase leads to the second floor, where much of the activity takes place. The delectable aroma of gourmet cuisine draws residents to the spacious dining room, which is tastefully decorated with succulents and potted plants.
The soft buzz of conversation floats from the tables where residents select from menu options and dine in style with china place settings on linen tablecloths. A large, elegant private dining room offers a special place for residents to host their family parties and events.
The crown jewel of Notre Dame du Lac is the magnificent chapel that rivals the most elegant cathedrals. Both contemporary and traditional, the cathedral ceiling chapel includes a meditation balcony and seats approximately 140 worshippers for daily Mass.
Stained glass windows, some dedicated to loved ones, frame the space and religious statues adorn the front of the altar. Just outside the chapel doors, Trees of Life decorate the walls, where each bronze leaf honors a loved one or memorializes an individual who has completed their earthly journey.
